Our tournaments follow a clear and structured ruleset designed to ensure fairness, safety, and high-quality fencing. We value clean technical execution, control, and respectful conduct. The rules are based on established HEMA standards and are continuously reviewed to reflect the evolving competitive landscape.
At Vindobona Bosch we will fight with a Vor-Nach-Ruleset without weighted hit zones. Double hits will give no points. Video judge will be available in the elimination rounds.
Our Mixed Longsword Teams tournament will take place on Sunday afternoon, after both sabre competitions and the lunch break.
Team Composition
- Each team must have three members.
- Teams should choose a fun or creative team name.
Format
This will be a double elimination tournament – your team is only out after two losses, so you’ll get more than one chance to fight!
Match Structure
Each match consists of three bouts. Teams decide the order in which their fencers will compete. The total team score is cumulative, so points add up across all three fights.
- First Bout
- Fencer 1 from each team fights.
- Fencing continues until 5 points are scored by one fencer or 3 minutes pass.
- Second Bout
- Fencer 2 from each team fights.
- This bout ends when one fencer reaches 10 cumulative points for their team or after 3 minutes.
Note: Points from the first bout carry over – they are not reset!
- Third Bout
- Fencer 3 from each team fights.
- The match ends when one team reaches 15 cumulative points, or when 3 minutes are up.
The team that first reaches 15 points, or has the highest score when time runs out, wins the match.
